3. If you and your parents and grandparents make less than a combined $100,000 a year flight school financing for the amount required is more challenging as banks are wary of loaning money to folks they don't think can repay the loan. A $55,000 Corvette is easier to finance than helicopter training because they can repossess the car but can't take away your education. The helicopter licenses require the expensive flying in the helicopter. However, the virtually free studying for the written exams can be done by reading books and perhaps you could get the books or borrow them and pass your written exams for Private, Commercial, Fundamentals of Instruction and Certified Flight Instructor. With these exams completed (we'll give you the necessary signoff after a review) you can take an exam and become an advanced ground instructor and be paid to be in the aviation community. You can study on your own or take a local ground school course, buy a DVD course to help you prepare or you can go to college and take classes that give you college credit or do a combination of all of these. Congressman Stafford spearheaded a program decades ago to guarantee a student loans for degree seeking college students but these programs do NOT help you get your helicopter time but can help you study for the exams and get a college degree. You may wish to explore these options with an online college that has a degree seeking program for aviation www.uvscaviation.com and you get your education with them and then fly with us as we are two separate organizations working together. You would enroll with them, pay a $35 fee and they can help you with financial aid that we can't offer. 877-336-8872
4. If you are eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill understand that those benefits to veterans kick in after you pay for your private rating which would average 60 hours at $250 per hour.
5. If you are not a US citizen call about visa requirements.
